Resinates

Resinates are produced by reacting metal salts with, for example, calcium, zinc or magnesium with selected resin acids and their derivatives (rosin or its derivatives), which also strongly influences the property profile of these products. Resinates are often simplified as salts of rosin or rosin salts and can consist of up to 100% natural raw materials.

For example, calcium hydroxide (slaked lime; Ca(OH)2) can be used in the synthesis of Ca-resinates. Zn-resinates and Mg-resinates can be obtained via analogous reactions with the metal salts. Mixed resinates such as Ca/Zn resinates can also be prepared.

Resinates have a wide range of applications and are used, among other things.

as tackifiers for adhesives (polychloroprene adhesives, solvent adhesives),
are the main binders of printing inks (publication gravure or toluene gravure),
road marking inks or road marking compounds,
also as hard resins for modification of alkyd resins and natural oils / stand oils (resin boils, oil boils),
for combination in lubricants, lubricating oils, lubricating greases and
in marine paints or antifouling paints.
